4 Ways To Get The Most Out Of Your Air Condition System This Summer

Posted on: 15 March 2017

If you want your air condition system to work as effectively as possible this summer, there are a few changes and improvements you can make to your to your air conditioning system to ensure that it works as effectively as possible.

#1 Change Out The Air Filter

One of the most important things you can do is change out your air filter. If your air filter is dirty and completely clogged with dust, dirt and particles, it is going to be difficult to get the air flow that your system needs to operate effectively. Make sure that you change out your air filter this spring and check up on it throughout the spring and summer months so you know when to replace it.

#2 Shade Your Air Conditioning Unit

If you air conditioning unit is located outside of your house, make sure that it is in a shady spot. If it spends a lot of time during the day in the direct sunlight, you may want to build an open-air shed around your unit to provide it with relief from the sun. You could also put up a small temporary pop-up open-air tent over your air conditioning to keep it in the shade as well. When your air conditioning unit is cool, it will be able to more effectively cool the air and get it into your home.

#3 Make Sure Your Thermostat Isn't In The Sun

Your thermostat is responsible for determining the temperature in your home and sending that information to your air conditioning system so that it knows when and how much cool air to pump into your home. You want to make sure that your air conditioning system is getting the most accurate information possible from your thermostat. Make sure that your thermostat isn't located on a wall where it will get directly hit with sunlight; this will make the reading inaccurate. If your thermostat is somewhere where it is hit directly with sunlight, move it to a different location.

#4 Upgrade To A Smart Thermostat

When you move your thermostat to a better location in your house where it is not hit with direct sunlight, consider upgrading to a smart thermostat. With a smart thermostat, you can program your thermostat to be set at a specific temperature at a specific time of day. For example, you can program your thermostat to a lower temperature in the evening, and allow your house to be a little warmer during the day when you are at work.
